​While volunteering at a mental health facility, Gus met a man who lives most of his life suffering from hallucinations, not knowing where he is or what is happening.
For the entire time that Gus and his handler, Maureen, visited with the man, he knew where he was and didn’t hallucinate at all. According to Maureen, “He just kept petting Gus and telling me how much he loved him. He even knew what day it was and told me that Gus was special when he left. Amazing. What a great dog, I adore him and how he is able to connect on a level I can’t begin to understand.”
