History
Therapy Animals of Utah (TAU) is a Delta Society® (Pet Partners®) affiliated 501 (C) (3) non-profit organization founded in 1997. Previously known as Utah Animal Assisted Therapy Association (UAATA), our name was shortened to Therapy Animals of Utah in 2010. All donations are used for the training of volunteers, site assessments and supplies to enable us to achieve our mission. TAU does not rent office space and has only one paid employee.
Our mission statement is “Dedicated to bringing love, comfort, hope and healing to those in need through the miracle of the human-animal bond.”
Our Board of Directors is comprised of nine men and women who meet every other month to discuss the various facets of TAU business, from organizing training sessions and our annual picnic to fund-raising and what new site assessments are to be done.
TAU has a very dedicated volunteer staff of 10 men and women who assist with education, evaluations, mentoring, site assessments, newsletters, coordinating events and many other facets of supporting our volunteer teams.

Who We Serve
We currently have over 45 facilities that have been assessed and are approved for visits from TAU Pet Partner Teams from Ogden to South Utah Valley. Members volunteer their time at hospitals, nursing homes, shelters, schools, psychiatric and other facilities, as well as an annual camp for children with cancer. If you know of a facility near your home that you would like to visit after joining TAU, then please email TAU’s director at: director@therapyanimalsutah.org

Pet Partners® (formerly Delta Society®)
TAU is proud to be Utah’s only Delta Society® (now changing their name to Pet Partners®) affiliate. Delta/Pet Partners is internationally recognized for setting the standard in Animal-Assisted Therapy. Delta Society was founded in 1977 by a visionary group of medical practitioners and veterinarians. After observing in both their practices and personal lives the profound positive impact that pets had on human lives, they committed themselves to ensuring research would be completed to explore and validate what they were observing.
